Wow, can you believe it is already October? This year is going fast. Before you know it, the quarter will be over and we will be having parent teacher conferences. If you haven't already, sign up at the office for a time! If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime rather than waiting for conferences.
On Friday, we took our Theme 1 week 3 reading assessment. We rocked this test! 3/4 of the class had a 90% or more. Way to go 1st graders! Our weekly assessments include reading the weeks sight words aloud to an adult, then filling in the missing letter to complete a word.
Tuesday Pence will kick off the "Fall Reading Incentives." Students will be able to earn prizes for reading. The students already have the assignment of reading for 10 minutes a day, this will be able to count towards both our reading logs, and the Fall reading.
This week in math we started learning about time, and telling time to the hour. This would be a great thing to work on at home. In first grade they are required to read time to the hour and half hour.
On Friday, the Fairfield Trojans came to give us a little pep assembly. Our class made them signs and had the choice of giving the signs to the football players and cheerleaders.
Below are a few pictures of how we kick it in first grade.
